Squash players from all major squash playing countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Germany, England, Hungary, Egypt and Pakistan, have confirmed their entries in the forthcoming first NWFP Governor Squash Championship scheduled from April 20.
This was announced by the newly elected President of NWFP Squash Association and Chief Executive Officer, Peshawar Cantonment Board, Mohammad Shafiullah Khan, flanked by General Secretary and former legendary Qamar Zaman Khan and Vice President of the association Ahsanullah Khan.
He said the pre-qualifying and main qualifying rounds of the event would start from April 20, while main round would start from April 26 and the final on April 29. He said the probable seeds of the championship were from Pakistan, including national top seed Mansoor Zaman Khan, Amir Atlas Khan and Shahid Zaman Khan.
While Waqar Mahboob Khan was bestowed with Wild Card on behalf of his good performance in the national and international tournaments. "I specially thank the NWFP Governor, who allowed NFWP Squash Association to hold such an international event in Peshawar in the present scenario with a big prize amount of 25,000 dollars," he added.
