The government has announced to hold competitions among wheat growers, with awards to be given to those showing maximum yields in the 2006-2007 harvesting season. A spokesman of agriculture department said on Wednesday that certificates and shields would be awarded to winners.
In addition to presenting tractors, threshers, seed drill and seed graders etc to those who harvest maximum yield by employing modern agri practices. In this connection, growers with less than 12.5 acre land will enter yield from 2 acres of their cultivated land, while in rain-fed areas, growers with less than 5 acres will offer yield from one acre of their cultivated land for the competition.
The spokesman has asked interested wheat growers to submit their applications on plain paper to their concerned Agriculture Officer Extension by April 13.
