The Sindh Bar Council (SBC) on Friday condemned incidents of beating up of journalists who were covering lawyers' rally in Karachi and apologised for the unpleasant incident.
Vice Chairman Sindh Bar Council Amin Lakhani and Chairman Human Rights Committee of Sindh High Court Bar Association Aaqil Lodhi in a joint statement said that journalist and lawyers were jointly striving for the rule of law in the country.
Some elements including government functionaries and hidden hands were trying to weaken the movement by creating rifts between media and lawyers through a planned conspiracy, they said.
They said that we should be united and beware of such conspiracies. They apologised to journalists for the incident and appealed lawyers to keep eye on elements trying to sabotage the struggle for uphold of law.
