NWFP Minister for Food, Excise and Taxation Fazle Rabbani Advocate visited the Excise and Taxation Department and attended a presentation on status and progress of the computerisation of motor vehicle registration system and number plates project.
Secretary E&T, Director General, ETOs and other officials of the E&TD were also present on the occasion. Project Director, EHA Hoffmann GmbH-the German Company running and managing the project- highlighted current status of the project and explained that the MVRS had been implemented and operational in all the district offices of E&TD in NWFP.
He further informed that the plant for number plates production had already been set up in Peshawar before the agreed timeframe to facilitate the production and delivery of the number plates. Statistical data of each district, current and near future inventory status of the deliverables was also presented.
He also explained that the MVRS was being made Web and SMS enabled to further facilitate the vehicle owners seeking information as well as the concerned departments/agencies for accessing data. The provincial minister highlighted the concept of public private partnership in general and the success of the project in particular, terming these achievements as exemplary.
