National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on Saturday directed the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) to submit a detailed report on reasons behind the removal of low-cadre employees from services during the tenure of former bank's president.
The committee members were of the view that this big decision had been taken by the certain higher functionaries of the bank without taking even the Prime Minister into confidence.
The Executive Vice President (Human Resource), ZTBL Sattar informed the committee that the termination order of around 700 low cadre employees of ZTBL was issued by the bank's human resource management committee headed by the former bank's president.
However, the present management of the bank had reinstated all 700 low-grade employees, he said and added all issues had been resolved and grievances of the employees removed.
Based on documents available to the new management, the bank authorities had offered golden handshake to these employees. The HR management committee of the bank was empowered to amend the services' regulations, but they had no authority to amend the relevant Terms of Reference (ToR) for removal of employees, ZTBL representative told.
Responding to various questions, he disclosed that the committee also included board members along with president of the bank. Members of the NA Standing Committee on Finance noted that it was clear that the employees were terminated on the directive of the former president of ZTBL, who headed the committee.
The NA body decided to form a sub-committee to investigate the matter thoroughly and find factors behind the termination of these employees. The sub-committee will submit its findings before the standing committee for further action in the matter.
The meeting was attended by Malik Muhammad Sardar Khan Tiwana MNA, Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dreshak MNA, Ms Kashmala Tariq MNA, Sardar Tufail Ahmed Khan MNA, Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi MNA.
