The office-bearers of the Multan High Court Bar Association (MHCBA) have urged lawyers to remain united and continue their struggle till the end of the military government in the country.
Addressing the MHCBA general house meeting, president Habib-ullah Shakir, general secretary Rana Naveed Ahmed, former Pakistan Bar Council vice chairman Mian Abbas Ahmed, advocates denounced President Pervez Musharraf for filing a reference against the Chief Justice of Pakistan. They said that lawyers would have to fight a long war and beware of the government tactics to divide them.
They condemned the government for holding 'fake' 'lawyers' conventions. They also accused police violence against peaceful lawyers. They advised the lawyers to beware of the black sheep in their ranks. They expressed displeasure over the LHC chief justice's visit to the session courts last week and urged lawyers to keep unity among them.
