Minister for Religious Affairs, Muhammad Ejaz ul Haq on Saturday said a direct train service named "Nanak express" will be operated from Nankana Sahib to Panja Sahib in Baisakhi festival next year.
"An amount of Rs 200 million would be earmarked to provide the best possible facilities to Sikh Yatrees (pilgrims)," he said while addressing at the concluding session of the "Baisakhi festival" at Panja Sahib today. Ejaz ul Haq said government plans to enhance the number of Sikh yatrees to 50,000 in the festival till 2011.
The government, he said is making all arrangements along with surge in this number and will provide all possible facilities to the yatrees in order to enable them to smoothly perform their religious rituals, he added. "One window operation will be launched to make visa system simple and easier and Yatrees will be permitted to even visit their native towns in Pakistan", he remarked.
The minister said a hostel of 300 rooms would be constructed at Hassan Abdal with an amount of Rs 20 million. He expressed the hope that this will help resolving the residential problems of Yatrees adding said a three four star hotels will be constructed in the different area where Sikh Yatrees are visiting. Ejaz ul Haq said there is complete interfaith harmony in the country and people of different faiths are living together with peace and love.
Sardar Bisheen Sing, Chairman Pakistan Gurdura Perbandak Committee (PGPBC) expressed his full satisfactions over the excellent arrangements made for Yatrees and thanked the government and people of Pakistan for their love and hospitality.
