Secretary Zakat and Ushr, Tauqir Ahmad Faiq has said that Zakat Department has disbursed Rs 160 million among the deserved people of 8 districts in the month of March this year. He said this while chairing a monthly departmental meeting held in his office here on Saturday.
He said that Lahore district, out of its 53 million Zakat Fund disbursed Rs 52,316,000 for dearness allowance, Rs 788,400 for health care, Rs 205,000 for social rehabilitation and Rs 120000 for marriage grants.
Kasur district disbursed Rs 11 million on various projects including stipends to the students of Deeni Madaris. Sialkot had a fund of Rs 25 million and a substantial part of it, has been spent on various social welfare projects.
Okara district had a fund of Rs 7.4 million which was utilised to facilitate deserving people of the area. Similarly, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Sheikhupura districts also spent the funds allotted to them, on sustenance allowance, stipend for the students of Deeni Madaris, healthcare, and marriage assistance to the poor people.
