A three-day strategic planning workshop on 'Strengthening of Livestock Services Project' (SLSP) concluded here on Saturday, which was attended by representatives of all the four provinces.
Including livestock experts, Directors of Provincial Management Units of SLS Project and Livestock & Dairy Development Departments, and District Livestock Officers of NWFP and facilitated by well known planning expert Mehmood Ali Himani.
The objectives of this workshop were to review the progress of the ongoing 4th Annual Work Plan and devise a unified strategy for replication of SLSP services delivery and production models in the 5th Annual Work Plan in consultation with all stakeholders keeping in view its achieving great success in NWFP for improving the service delivery by increasing the livestock productivity.
Derek J Massey, European Co-Manager of NWFP PPMU, briefed the participants on the opening day and gave an account of the project activities for the current year and said that due to realistic approach and adaptation of the four models of production in milk, meat, wool and poultry, the service delivery had improved and diseases controlled due to which livestock production in NWFP had got momentum.
Group discussions were held and issues deliberated and recommendations forwarded for implementation and inclusion in the next Annual Work Plan.. Some major recommendations included close liaison and linkages development among the local, provincial and federal governments and NGOs working for livestock improvement for creating a unified work plan.
