Supplies appeared tight resulting in most goods moving higher on the wholesale commodity markets during the week ender on Saturday. Basmati however poised to go sharply up.
The leftover terms were Mexipak wheat quoted higher at Rs 1145 and Rs 1150 while new kind was quoted higher at Rs 1160 and Rs 1165. Irri 6 Sindh, low type was up Rs 20 to Rs 1400 and better type was up Rs 30 to Rs 1430. Basmati D-Shahdadkot sharply higher by Rs 200 to Rs 3200 and better type quoted at Rs 3300. Cotton cakes with bags rose by Rs 5 to Rs 550 and better type quoted at Rs 650.
On the first session the wheat turned down both old and new by Rs 15 to Rs 1130 and Rs 1135 and better type was quoted at Rs 1145 and Rs 1150. Irri 6 Sindh rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1410 and better type quoted at Rs 1440. Rapeseed Moorpurlane up Rs 10 to Rs 980, and better type rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1000.
On the Jodia Bazar white pepper moved higher by Rs 800 to Rs 11800. Black pepper from Singapore ended higher by Rs 1500 to Rs 9200, black pepper from Brazil closed up by Rs 1500 to Rs 9400. Big cardamom closed up by Rs 100 at Rs 11,100, cloves moved higher by Rs 200 to Rs 9,800, star aniseed down by Rs 100 to Rs 4600, and cuminseed ended up by Rs 200 to Rs 5200.
On Tuesday Jodia Bazar had some fluctuations in plastic mouldings. HDPE blow (per Lb) Kuwait ended down by Re 1 to Rs 48. Marlex closed lower by 50 paisa to Rs 47.75, and Iran retreated by Re 1 to Rs 47. LDPE 374 closed lower by Re 1 to Rs 52. LLDPE W118 closed up by 50 paisa to Rs 47.50. Polypropylene film from Thai showed down trend and was down by 25 oaisa to Rs 55. Kuwait closed higher by 25 paisa to Rs 45, and India closed higher by 25 paisa to Rs 45. Polypropylene (tape grade) India closed lower by Rs 5 to Rs 44.50, copoly block down by Re 1 to Rs 49, High impact (per bag) Pakistani quoted at Rs 2990, and BASF closed lower by Rs 200 to Rs 3300.
Elsewhere wheat Mexipak old and new down marginally at Rs 1130 and Rs 1145.
The third session on the wholesale commodities market was dull and dreary with no worthwhile changes seen. Only change noted was on grain market where Irri-6 low type was higher by Rs 5 to Rs 1405 and better type shot up by Rs 10 to Rs 1430. On Thursday raw rubber report showed rising trend and was available at Jodia Bazar. Rubber from Ceylon (per lb) RSSV rose by Re 1 to Rs 69 and pale crape TPC 3 quoted at Rs 75, Latex Semnan Tex was quoted at Rs 490 and Thai (G.Y) was also seen at the same level.
On the commodity wholesale markets Basmati D closed higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3300/3400. Basmati Bagarjee gained Rs 100 to Rs 3300. Basmati 386 rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3450 while better type was quoted at Rs 3500. Sela Basmati rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3900 and better type was quoted at Rs 4000.
Super Basmati Sindh turned higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3500 and better type was quoted at Rs 3600. Wheat Mexipak old quoted at Rs 1135, and new type was registered at Rs 1150.
Gram Australia rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2450 and better type was seen at Rs 2500. Yellow peas Canada up by Rs 25 to Rs 1825 and better type seen at Rs 1900. Yellow peas dal Canada rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1975 and better type quoted at Rs 2050. Beetle chana I rose sharply by Rs 200 to Rs 2300 and better type quoted at Rs 2400. Beetle 50x50 rose sharply by Rs 250 to Rs 2200 and better type seen at Rs 2300, and cotton cakes lost Rs 10 to Rs 640 while inferior type was put at Rs 550.
On Friday a couple of changes were seen in milk powder (per bag of 25 kg) Olden Burger closed with gains by Rs 980 to Rs 6980. Euro Gold ended up by Rs 50 to Rs 5400. Cerolac was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 5700 and Meleo Veg gained Rs 350 to Rs 5200. On Saturday urad Burma was up Rs 100 at Rs 1600 and better quality gained Rs 150 at Rs 1750. Yellow peas Canada and yellow peas dal both gained Rs 25 at Rs 1850-1935 and Rs 2000-2075, respectively.
