Central Secretary of Pakistan People's Party Jehangir Badr has said the PPP is a strong political party and no one could divide it as its roots are in masses. Talking to newsmen here on Sunday he said that PPP has always opposed the dictators and military governments in past and would continue its struggle for restoration of true democracy in the country.
To a question Jehangir Badr made it clear that PPP would never make any deal with the military government, saying that Benazir Bhutto in her recent interview with a private TV channel had also clarified that uniform and democracy couldn't side by side.
When he was asked about the arrival of Benazir Bhutto to the country he said this is the year of Benazir's return and general elections, adding that very soon she would be with the masses and would run the PPP election campaign. The PPP leader said that now people are political aware and they want to get rid of the present military government, adding the change is imminent and the people would bring their true representatives to the assemblies and government. He said the formation of an independent Election Commission and holding of an interim set-up are need of the hour so that the masses could choose their representatives.
