It's time to change our mind. I am student of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Most of my correspondence and study material are sent by the Institute via post which is very crucial for me.
Thus misplacement of any parcel / package hampers my studies and wastes my one semester. In February 2007, a parcel was dispatched for me by CIMA which remained undelivered and misplaced for 2 months.
I had lodged my complaint with Pakistan Post Office (Karachi and Islamabad) via e-mail for non-delivery of my parcel. It was expected that it will never be entertained because Government Institutions make websites for the sake of it only. But it was a surprise for me when the Deputy Director General and Deputy General, Pakistan Post Office, Islamabad called me up within 24 hours asking for necessary details of the complaint, and within 2 weeks they located my misplaced parcel.
It has always been our habit to pinpoint our institutions when they do not entertain our complaints, but we are never thankful when they work efficiently. Pakistan Post Office has proved that the privatisation is not the only solution to make the institutions proficient, but it's the transformation of bureaucratic system into the system of competent personnel that really matters.
