Exports to Georgia likely to increase: TDAP

Pakistani business houses can boost their exports to Georgia where 90 percent of the country's imports are exempted from custom duty. Georgia, which enjoys European Union's GSP Plus facility, is also the beneficiary of preferential trade regimes of USA, Japan and Switzerland.
According to Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) here on Tuesday, out of 10,800 items in the nomenclature of goods in Georgia, only one percent is taxed by 5 percent duty.
The 12 percent tariff rate is imposed on agriculture products in general including fruits, vegetables, meat, tea and flour, as well as construction material.
TDAP said that under the new system, which is to be introduced soon, there would be only three tariff rates instead of current 16, thus further simplifying the customs procedures for imports. Agriculture products, like rice, cocoa, coffee beans, which are not endemic to Georgia, also fall within zero tariff rate zone.
