Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Vice Chairman Ali Ahmad Kurd and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Munir A. Malik said that they were receiving threats of danger to their families if they did not stop defence of the Chief Justice.
Talking to national and international media after the court proceedings, the panel of lawyers of Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, including Aitzaz Ahsan, Hamid Khan, Ali Ahmad Kurd, Munir A. Malik, Tariq Mahmood warned the government that if something happened to their families, then the lawyers fraternity, opposition political parties, and the entire civil society from Khyber to Karachi would stand up and could do anything.
They said the lawyers, political parties, and the general public would continue their struggle for the independence of judiciary, rule of law, and restoration of democracy to the country. Both Ali Ahmad Kurd and Munir A. Malik announced that the lawyers would boycott the courts and stage protest on April 24 throughout the country.
