The Punjab Auqaf Department has decided to launch massive crackdown against encroachments of the Auqaf land at Baghnan in co-operation with the police. Director Estate Auqaf has been deputed as an enquiry officer to probe the matter and to suggest ways and means to get rid of this menace in future.
Punjab Auqaf Minister Saeed-ul-Hassan Shah disclosed this while presiding over a departmental meeting at Civil Secretariat here on Thursday. Auqaf Directors of Estate, Admin, Finance, and Projects & Religious Affairs' wings attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed various proposals to reclaim encroached properties from land grabbers. The meeting was informed that senior Auqaf officials would supervise the cleanup operation in Baghnan.
The Auqaf department has already reclaimed 224 acres of land in various districts from the encroachers. Computerisation of Auqaf' properties and revenue records has also begun, to ensure transparency and financial discipline.
