The Ministry of Women Development has approved establishment of Aman Skill Development Center in Alipur, Islamabad District for imparting training to women in different trades with a cost of Rs 15.319 million.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the Ministry had approved the center under 'Jafakash Aurat' project, for social, economic and political empowerment of women. They said that the Ministry had launched the project for skill development of women in Islamabad, which would provide basic computer courses, hand and machine embroidery, glass and cloth painting and stitching.
'Jafakash Aurat' project includes 'Patti Development Programme, Chitral' (NWFP), 'Economic Empowerment of Rural Women, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala (Punjab), Supporting Skill and Micro Enterprise Development amongst Gwadar Women (Balochistan), they said.
The project was started in collaboration with Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), First Woman Bank Limited (FWBL) and Khushhali Bank (KB) with the cost of Rs 170.339 million.
They said that the micro-credit scheme was started through Khushali Bank under 'Jafakash Aurat' project so that women could establish their own businesses adding that the project would bring economic empowerment to the rural women. Targets achieved under the project include Rs 4.343 million loan disbursement to 381 women and 953 women were given training, they said.
