An Excise and Taxation (E&T) inspector along with some armed policemen attacked the Adil Textile Mills Limited and injured the security in-charge and other workers. The mill is situated at Faisalabad Road, near District Sheikhupura.
According to details, E&T Inspector Nadeem, armed with gun along with four excise officials and two police officials with uniform, approached the mill's gate and tried to enter the premises.
The security in-charge at the gate asked them to show their identity and any orders authorising them to enter the premises. However, the inspector could not show any appropriate order of a competent authority. The security in-charge said the premise was a private property and nobody could enter into it without any lawful authority.
The inspector not only manhandled security in-charge but also beat him up with the help of his companions. They forcibly entered the premises and first of all tuned off the exchange themselves and asked the operator not to call anybody.
However, the security in-charge managed to contact the Managing Director at Karachi on mobile, which contacted the SSP Sheikhupura to know the causes of such highhandedness. The SSP denied having any information or deputing any police official.
In the meantime, E&T District Officer, Sheikhupura, Akmal Chaudhry reached at the spot. A protest was also lodged before the District Officer but the assailant blatantly refused to vacate and threatened workers and administrative staff.
The administration of the mills and the owner of the factory have demanded the government to hold a thorough enquiry into the matter and take stern action against inspector and other officials responsible for attacking and ransacking the property of mill owner.
