The Punjab government has evolved a plan costing more than Rs 3 billion for the development of industrial estates through an innovative public-private partnership approach in the province, revealed Chairman Task Force on Trade and Industry Mian Muhammad Riaz.
Talking to reporters here on Friday he said that the step was being taken for activating and tracking it on modern and scientific production lines in the Province. Mian Riaz said that special attention was being given to resolve problems being confronted by the SMEs. He said that SMEs are playing important role not only in strengthening the national economy but also providing employment opportunities to the skilled and semi skilled labour force in the Punjab.
The Chairman Task Force further disclosed that an ultra modern Furniture City would soon be established in Gujrat where all basic facilities and manufacturing technologies would be provided to the furniture manufacturers. Apart from this, various new projects including establishment of new cement plant, glass and ceramic institute in Attock, were in the pipeline, he added.
Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority had initiated various training courses for producing the maximum trained and semi-skilled labour according to the local needs of the Punjab, he said.
The Chairman said that induction of trained and semi-skilled persons in the industrial sector would not only help in scaling down unemployment but also help improving the quality of products and enhancing the capacity of industrial sector.
