The first event of the nation-wide series of SME business galas by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) would be held at Karachi Expo Centre on Wednesday, May 2, 2007.
Smeda is conducting this programme with the help of various public and private sector organisations where services offered by partner organisations shall be showcased and counselling sessions would be held to fulfil the business needs of SMEs.
The series of nation-wide seminars on Hassle Free Business Environment is the main part of this programme, which has been particularly designed to provide a platform for both public and private sector institutions to disseminate their recent initiatives, products and services for the development and promotion of SMEs in Pakistan. Participating organisations, all gathered under one roof, shall assist in providing solutions to their business, whether it is financial, technology, human resources, marketing or production support.
Dissemination of SME policy holds vital importance for maximising benefits to the SMEs and the public as well as for successful implementation of the policy. SME Policy Dissemination Campaign, thus, is a complementary aspect of the SME policy development process.
The timing of "Hassle Free Business Environment" seminars provides an opportune occasion to achieve this vital objective of disseminating the SME policy. It is, therefore, envisaged that SME Policy Dissemination Campaign would be initiated through these seminars being arranged at 15 different locations across the country.
So far, more than 30 organisations both from the public and private sectors have joined hands with Smeda to participate in the seminars. A few of these organisations include; Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Business Support Fund (BSF), Agribusiness Fund (ASF), Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), GC University Lahore, Habib Bank Limited, CitiBank, Alfalah Bank, Allied Bank and MCB Bank.
