The construction work of 11 police station buildings in the provincial capital is in full swing with a cost of Rs 170 million. It was informed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of provincial minister for communication and works Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan here on Friday, disclosed an official.
C&W secretary Muhammad Ahsan, Additional Secretary (Technical) Masood Rasool, Chief Engineers and police officers also attended the meeting. The meeting was further informed that the buildings of police stations of Kahana, Mustafaabad, Ghaziabad, South Cantt, North Cantt, Baghbanpura, Raiwind, New Anarkali, Barki, Hydiara and Manga Mandi were being constructed.
During the current fiscal year, Rs 19.2 million has been allocated for these schemes and Rs 80 million has already been spent during the year 2006. The meeting also reviewed the pace of work on the repair and rehabilitation of Police Training School, Chung. A total sum of Rs 26.7 million would be spent on this scheme while Rs 5 million is being utilised during the current fiscal year.
Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan directed the chief engineers to speed up the pace of work so that these schemes could be completed well in time. He also directed the police officers to monitor the development schemes and point out the irregularities if found, so that stern action could be taken against those responsible.
