Strongly condemning the arrest of Ali Ahmed Kurd, Vice Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and murder attempt on Ghulam Mustafa Kandowal, member of Rawalpindi Bar, the Islamabad Bar Association has formally passed a resolution.
The resolution was passed in a meeting of the general body of the Islamabad Bar Association, which was hurriedly convened here on Saturday. Terming the arrest of Ali Ahmed Kurd, the lawyers said such acts show the government's confusion, adding the government wanted to crush the lawyers peaceful movement through force.
The lawyers said the main purpose of the lawyers peaceful movement is to increase the respect and dignity of the courts and freedom of judiciary. Islamabad Bar Association President Haroon-ur-Rashid, Shaib Shaheen, Aleem Abbasi, Haji Fazl-ur-Rehman Niazi, Javid Saleem Sorish, and other lawyers also spoke on the occasion.
