Punjab Health Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal has said the government is promoting health sector on priority basis and a number of projects are being implemented for this purpose by the provincial government and the federal government is also executing various healthcare schemes in the province.
The strategy of the government would leave a far-reaching impact on the process of social change as promotion of health sector is of vital importance for the creation of a civilised society.
He expressed these views while addressing various delegations of people and representatives of donor agencies on Saturday. He said the government had started Punjab Health Sector Reforms Programme for the provision of modern medical facilities to the masses while special measures were being taken for the uplift of health sector.
He said a new system; "strengthen emergency medical services" had been introduced in emergency wards of the teaching hospitals in Punjab under which modern treatment facilities as well as free medicines were being provided to the patients irrespective of their social status.
