I heard in January 2006 that Indian Consulate would be opened in Karachi soon. But there is no hope of opening Indian Consulate in Karachi and God knows when it will start functioning for visas.
I am much surprised that our Government does not ask or put pressure on Indian authorities as to why they are delaying re-opening their Karachi Consulate. When it was working in Karachi, on a daily average more than 500 visa were being issued to people who intended to go to India.
Due to the closure of Karachi Consulate people have to go to Islamabad which is very costly. Those who belong to middle class group can't afford such expense.
My simple suggestion to Indian government is that for first time visit the process should not take more than three weeks for visas. Secondly, the reporting system should be eliminated immediately. This only creates trouble and wastes precious time. I am eager to see once again the opening of Indian Consulate office in Karachi.
