Uplift activity in Sindh manifests coalition's smooth working: Prime Minister
Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz has said the enhanced development activities and investment in Sindh is a manifestation of smooth functioning of the coalition partners and strong macroeconomic fundamentals achieved by the Government.
Chairing a high-level meeting here at Governor House soon after his arrival on Sunday night, the Prime Minister said record allocations for development projects made by the Government have brought improvement in the quality of life of the people and the Government will continue to enhance these allocations.
Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani attended the meeting.
Shaukat discussed the implementation of various development projects including Lyari Expressway, Northern Bypass, RBOD, Nara Canal and Motorway projects with Sindh Governor and Chief Minister.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and its coalition partners will contest the next general elections from the same platform and they will win on the basis of their performance in office.
The Prime Minister said consistency and continuity of policies and governance system is essential for maintaining the momentum of Development and the Government will continue to pursue the same policies to ensure sustainable development.
Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, on the occasion, informed the Prime Minister that law and order situation has improved in Sindh due to the focused and concerted efforts of the Sindh Government. Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan briefed the Prime Minister on the performance of various Federal agencies functioning in Sindh.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Durrani briefed the meeting on issues related to media.
He said the Government believes in the freedom of media to provide diverse sources of information to the people. He said the proliferation of media in Pakistan and opening of new channels, has created jobs and new opportunities. The news analysis are contributing to maturity of media and strengthening of democracy, the Minister said.
The Prime Minister has arrived here on a two-day visit. During his stay in Karachi he will review the work of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) and launch new projects at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Port Qasim.
