Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited (DHCL) has earned Rs 354 million as profit after tax in the first quarter (January-March) ended March 2007 as compared to Rs 422 million in the corresponding period in 2006.
The earning per share of the company stood at Rs 4.27 in the period under review against Rs 5.09 previously.
In a press release issued here, it was stated that the total sales of the company was Rs 709 million in this period against Rs 789 million in the three month period last year.
The Board of Directors of the company in a meeting held here approved the un-audited accounts of the company for the firs quarter ended March 31, 2007.
According to the statement, the company's plant remained shut for 13 days during the first quarter of 2007 due to gas loadshedding. Consequently, the company produced 107,023 MT of urea as against 118,698 MT for the corresponding period last year. Accordingly, capacity utilisation of the plant was 96 percent in this period against 107 percent previously.
During the quarter under review, the company sold 76,710 MT of urea as against 91,950 MT in the same period last year due to paucity of funds with the farmers.
However, the market share of the company for the period stood at 9 percent as against 8 percent for the corresponding period last year.-PR
