Pakistan and Iran have agreed to speed up Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project as it would create linkages and interdependencies leading to win-win situation for all and promote peace in the region.
These views were expressed at the sideline meeting of 2nd Asian Energy Ministerial Roundtable between the Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon and Iranian Oil Minister Syed Kazem Viziri Hamaneh, here on Thursday.
During the meeting, they expressed full satisfaction over the pace of progress on the IPI project and desired for early its implementation for the benefit of all stakeholders as well as entire region.
Amanullah Jadoon said Pakistan and Iran enjoy deep-rooted cordial and brotherly relations based on Islamic fraternity, culture and commonality of views on regional and international issues. He briefed his Iranian counterpart about the steps being taken by the government for promoting the energy sector on modern line and efforts to explore the untapped hydrocarbon and alternate resources.
Both the sides agreed that there exist a lot of potentials and opportunities for expanding the level of multi-dimensional bilateral co-operation and exchanged views to explore more avenues of co-operation in diversified fields between the two brotherly Muslim countries particularly in the oil and gas.
Reciprocating his sentiments, the Iranian Oil Minister Syed Kazam Viziri Hamaneh said Iran attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with Pakistan, which were growing and strengthening in multi-dimensional fields including the oil and gas.
He said expeditious implementation of IPI gas pipeline project would promote peace and prosperity in the region and bring the people closure. Director General HDIP, Hital A. Raza, and D.G. (Petroleum Concessions) Mohammad Naeem Malik were also present during the meeting.
