Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq has said that government deal with Benazir Bhutto was not beneficial for the country, nation as well as for the government itself. 'Benazir Bhutto has agreed to accept Pervez Musharraf in uniform as President of Pakistan', he added.
While addressing a press conference here on Sunday at local hotel he said that the quota of the Haj pilgrims had been increased up to the figure of 160,000. 'Accommodation for 35,000 persons has been made in the Saudi Arabia', he disclosed. Director Haj Lahore Farugh Aftab was also present on the occasion.
The minister averred that 160,000 pilgrims were to perform Haj this year and said that 27 serious complaints had been received in the previous year on which government had taken strict action, he added.
He said 340 new companies have been given permission to work during Haj period. 'The number of tour operators should not be increased and ministry of religious affairs has moved a summary to the Prime Minister in this regard', he pointed out.
The federal minister said that federal investigation agency (FIA) was investigating the cases of Afghani people who were travelling on Pakistani passports.
Referring to Jamia Hafsa controversy, the minister said it would be resolved through negotiation and government would not commence any operation against the students there.
