Traders bodies on Tuesday observed hunger strike at Karachi Press Club and declared that they would not abide by the government decision of closing the shops at 8.00pm as energy conservation measure. They also warned of a city-wide protest and demonstrations saying cutting down on productive sector would not be tolerated.
All Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders & Cottage Industries (APOSTCI), Karachi Electronics Dealers Association and Karachi Taxi and Rickshaw Owners Association staged the hunger strike. 'We too are among the citizens affected by loadshedding in the city, but closing shops and businesses would just add to the misery of our families and to the economy of the country', APOSTCI Karachi chapter president, Dr Mehmood Hamid said while talking to PPI.
