Punjab Minister for Power Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani has directed Electric Inspectors to submit an up-to-date report on the progress of Independent Power Producers, Small Power Producers, Prime and Stand-by generators after the expiry of 40 days of the assessing month. He was presiding over a meeting held to review the performance of Electric Inspectors in his office on Tuesday.
Chief Engineer (Power) Muhammad Yaqoob, Incharge Reconciliation Cell Iftikhar Ahmed, Project Manager REDP, Liaqat Ali Iqbal and all the Electric Inspectors were present in the meeting. Matters regarding returns on levy of Electricity Duty (ED), monitoring and recovery position of ED, test checks of Inspecting Officers, arrears' details came under discussion.
Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani said that the latest position regarding capacity of the generators installed, consumer added and load enhanced or reduced must also be supplied by the Inspecting Officers/ Electric Inspectors on yearly basis and the most recent information for the last year be supplied within a period of fortnight.
He said that detailed monthly returns, yearly and quarterly abstracts of ED since July 2006 onward should also be submitted at an early date. He directed Electric Inspectors of Faisalabad and Islamabad to give monthly abstracts of ED from January 2007 to onward by the next meeting.
The minister said that the electricity had become one of the basic needs of a man and due to the rapid development in the country, the demand of energy had also increased manifold.
He said that the present government was very touchy regarding provision of basic amenities to the general masses and would not compromise over it. He urged the Electric Inspectors to accelerate the implementation work within stipulated period of time.
