Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that strong Pak-Afghan media links would further strengthen bilateral ties and enhance people-to-people contacts. Talking to Ehsanullah Arianzai, Chief Executive of Ariana TV of Afghanistan, who called on him here on Wednesday.
Senator Durrani said Pakistan and Afghanistan have deep-rooted historical, cultural and religious-lingual ties. The media sectors of the two countries can further cement these bonds, he said, adding that Pakistan is willing to collaborate with the Afghan media segment.
Keeping in view the modern trends, there is a dire need for both the brotherly states to collaborate in the electronic and print media fields, he said. Managing Director PTV Yusuf Baig Mirza and Director General EP Wing Mansoor Sohail were also present during the meeting.
Senator Durrani said that media bonds can play a vital role in fostering the already strong people-to-people contacts between the two countries. He said the PTV would collaborate with the Ariana TV and Pakistani plays, music and other programmes would be aired in Afghanistan with Pushto sub-titling.
"The government and people of Pakistan wish progress and prosperity of our Afghan brethren. Pakistan has also played an important part in the ongoing reconstruction of Afghanistan. The Ministry of Information is willing to cooperate and collaborate with our Afghan counterpart," he said.
The minister said exchange of media delegations would further cement the bilateral ties. MD PTV presented a volume of famous PTV programmes and music to the visitor. Ehsanullah Arianzai said that Pakistani television programmes were famous in Afghanistan. He expressed gratitude to the minister for provision of PTV programmes in Pushto and Brahavi languages.
