National carrier, PIA, has decided to revive its football team, which will soon be taking part in all national football activities. This was stated by Lieutenant Colonel Moin Rauf, PIA General Manager (Sports) on his return from Malaysia after attending 22nd AFC Congress in Kuala Lumpur, here on Friday.
"We have decided to revitalise our soccer team and we have appointed Tariq Lutfi as the manager. People will see once again in action the most successful team in Pakistan football history, PIA, and we will be making all out efforts to regain our top slot", Moin said.
It may be mentioned that PIA is still most successful team with 9 titles, followed by Punjab (8 titles), Karachi (6 titles) and Wapda (five titles). PIA failed to enter the PFF's showpiece event from 2004 to 2006 as after Quetta's 16th PFF President in 2003, the soccer team of PIA was disbanded." said Lutfi who became the first-ever FIFA coaching instructor from South Asia either in men or women soccer arena in March 2007.
