Ruling party and their allies would be responsible if any mishap happened on May 12, Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League-N Iqbal Zafar Jhagra warned. Addressing press conference at Karachi Press Club on Friday evening, Jhagra said rulers want confrontation with the public of Pakistan by staging rally on the same day when the Chief Justice Pakistan would visit Karachi.
He questioned 'Those claiming Karachi as only their city' that do they think of Karachi as separate from Pakistan, and that 'is it not the city of all Pakistanis?'
The PML-N leader said that since early Friday morning till this afternoon, more than 150 party activists and leaders have been arrested. He added that raids were carried out throughout Karachi to weaken opposition from welcoming the Chief Justice.
'Chief Justice had been given very peaceful and historic welcome at Peshawar High Court Bar NWFP, Lahore High Court Bar and now new records would be made as the Chief Justice would visit Karachi and address Sindh High Court Bar on May 12'.
He mentioned that the Chief Justice covered distance from Islamabad to Lahore in 25 hours, which highlight the love and affection people have for him. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra informed that final touches were given to the arrangement to welcome the Chief Justice.
'MQM must not make it matter of ego and show its responsibility' he asserted saying that despite some 'common sense' from the central ministers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, who suggested their party to postpone rally on May 12, taking out rally on May 12 would be mistake on part of rulers'. He condemned role of Sindh government saying that instead of ensuring proper security arrangements, they are directing the Chief Justice of Pakistan to postpone his visit.
He termed the government of Sindh's advice to the Chief Justice to postpone his visit to Karachi due to security reasons as 'admitting failure to control security'. He said by that statement the Sindh government has proved that they are no longer able to control law and order in the province.
Secretary General PML N expressed great surprise over the statement of Chief Minister Sindh to join Muttahida Qaumi Movement's rally and said it shows that they wanted confrontation with public.
He advised Sindh government to withdraw their decision of holding their rally on the same day when the Chief Justice of Pakistan was visiting Karachi. Additional Secretary Information PML-N Sardar Rahim read out names of their leaders and workers who had been arrested so far.
The arrested PML-N activists are Sardar Ishaq, Usman Siddiq, Younis Butt, Muhammad Ali, Akhylaq Hashmi, Ijaz Hassan, Ummer Khan, Roshan Khan, Malak Shah Nawaz, Shehbaz and many others.
