Former Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has urged Canadian government to help resolve Kashmir issue besides extending assistance to the earthquake-hit Kashmiri people.
Sultan Mehmood, who is currently visiting Ottawa, Toronto, to muster further support for Kashmir issue said that the Canadian government should also grant free immigrations to Kashmiris, to reduce their miseries in wake of earthquake.
Addressing as chief guest at Carlton University, Ottawa, where Canadian Minister for multiculturalism and Canadian Identity, Jason Kenney and Member, Canadian Parliament, Patric Brown were also present, he urged the world community to intervene and play its role for resolution of Kashmir issue.
He said the international community should also take notice of the presence of more than 800,000 Indian troops and human rights violations committed by them in occupied Kashmir.
"If an atomic war breaks out between two nuclear states, India and Pakistan, the lives of 1.25 billion population will be at risk," he added. According to press release issued here on Saturday, Sultan Mehmood opined that Canadian government should take a decisive stance to mediate longstanding Kashmir issue, as there is a danger of nuclear conflict between two neighbours of South Asia. Canada, he said, is a multi-cultural society and it has a remarkable record of human rights.
He said Canada has been observing the world situation adding the resistance movement could start like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Palestine, if the Kashmir issue is not resolved immediately. Sultan Mehmood said that on one hand India claims to be champion of democracy but on the other, it's policies are threat for world peace.
Kashmiris' are making efforts at all the fora and they are not creating any hindrance between Pakistan-India dialogue for resolution of all outstanding issues including Kashmir, he added.
He, however, said the neutral countries will have to play their role for holding intra-Kashmiri dialogue. Speaking on the occasion, Jason Kenney expressed his desire that Kashmir issue is resolved through dialogue and peaceful manner. He said India and Pakistan are members of nuclear club and we do not want increase in the tension between them.
