The Attock Oil Company Limited (AOC) was incorporated in United Kingdom on December 1, 1913. The Company is principally engaged in exploration, drilling and production of petroleum and related activities in Pakistan.
AOC had its first oil discovery at Khaur, district Attock in 1915. Thereafter, AOC has made significant contribution in promoting oil and gas exploration in the country by opening up the Potohar Basin as the first oil producing area. The Potohar Basin remained the only oil producing basin in Pakistan till the early 1970s.
Exploration efforts by AOC helped the country to manage part of the domestic oil demand and saved substantial foreign exchange. The Company managed to sustain oil production by discovering new oil reserves at regular intervals. Presently, AOC has exploration and production joint ventures with Pakistan Oilfields Limited, Oil & Gas Development Company Limited, Orient Petroleum International Inc. and Tullow Oil (Developments) Pakistan Limited.
AOC is the holding Company of Pakistan Oilfields Limited and Attock Refinery Limited; both are public limited Companies and listed on the stock exchanges in Pakistan.
