New faculty deans appointed at GCU

The GC University has made appointments of deans of various faculties and a notification in this regard was issued on Tuesday. According to a notification of the GC University, Lahore Professor Dr Sohail Ahmed Khan, former Dean of Arts, has been appointed as Dean Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Learning at GCU.
Chairperson Statistics Department Professor Dr M Khalid Pervaiz has been appointed as Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences whereas Professor Dr Amin ul Haq has been appointed as Dean of Sciences and Technology.
Professor Dr Sohail Ahmad Khan is a well- known educationalist among the Urdu literary circles across the country and has 38 years professional teaching experience at post-graduate level. He has supervised 15 Ph.D and 100 M.Phil and Masters level theses. He has also worked as a Chairman department of Urdu and later Principal Oriental College of the University of the Punjab.
Dr Sohail has also served as visiting professor at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan during 2000-2002. He joined GC University Lahore in 2003 and was appointed as Chairman Urdu Department and Dean of Arts of the University. Now, Dr Sohail has been appointed as Dean, Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Learning, GC University Lahore.
Chairman Statistics Department Professor Dr Khalid Pervaiz has been appointed as Dean of Social Sciences. Dean Faculty of Science & Technology of GCU Dr Amin ul Haq completed his Masters from GCU and did his Ph.D in Agro-Eco System from Imperial College London in 1987.
Dr Amin has supervised 12 M.Phil and two Ph.D dissertations and has 50 publications to his credit. He is also Director of the newly established 'Sustainable Development Study Centre' at GCU. The newly appointed Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dr Khalid Pervaiz did his M.Sc in Statistics from the University of the Punjab and later did his Ph.D in statistics from Southampton University UK. Dr Khalid's fields of specialisation are sampling, multi-variety analysis, probability distributions, statistical inference and quality education.
