Minister for Population Welfare Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain on Monday said political parties were trying to take undue advantage from the situation by igniting violence in the sensitive areas of the country. Talking to PTV, he said political parties had now taken over the protest campaign earlier led by the lawyers.
Media is also presenting one-sided picture of the events as negativity has special attraction and greater impacts. Some vested elements have also turned against the government resorting to violence in small groups. Various big terrorist organisations have already been smashed successfully in the last few years.
Expressing regrets on Karachi killings, he said the situation had earned a bad name for the government. Police badly failed to maintain the law and order situation in Karachi on May 12. An inquiry is continuing to ascertain the causes of the failure.
On knowing about killings in Karachi on May 12, gloom prevailed in the same day Istihkam-e-Pakistan rally in Islamabad. Festivity was abruptly ended. Talking about Istihkam-e-Pakistan rally of May 12 in Islamabad, he said as many as 2,300 commercial and 700 private vehicles participated from Jhelum.
