Federal Secretary Food and Agriculture, Ismail Qureshi has said that there was no shortage of wheat in the country, and if the prices were raised, government would intervene. In an exclusive interview with Aaj TV, he said that there was no wheat crisis in the country and if the prices of the commodity were raised, the government would intervene to deal with the situation.
To a question regarding shortage of wheat in Sindh, he said that due to May 12 crisis there was transportation issue, due to which the flourmills could not get wheat. The mills purchased wheat on high rates that was why they wanted to raise prices. However, if the prices of flour was raised the government would intervene and bring back the prices down. He said that procurement was greater as compared to previous year.
