The Department of Electronics and Biomedical Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, has organised a three-day "International biomedical instrumentation workshop" in collaboration with Electronica Veneta, Italy, and Rizvi and Company of Karachi on May 12.
The workshop broadly covered training on biomedical signal amplifier, physiological measurement unit, biomedical transducers, and optoelectronics, circuit boards, fire fighting installations for hospitals, defrillator and electrotherapy.
Dr Ivo. Mannuchi from Electronica Veneta, Italy, conducting the workshop, said that technological innovation in the field of medicine and healthcare was accelerating at enormous pace. The modern hospital was now the centre of a technologically sophisticated healthcare system, and thus requires technologically trained staff, he said.
