The SITE Association Karachi on Tuesday urged all concerned parties to reconsider the three-day strike call in Karachi. In a statement issued here, SITE Association said the industrialists were extremely dismayed over the incidence of May 12 and fully sympathised with the deceased and injured in the tragic incidents of that day.
They certainly feel for the bereaved families and show great concern for the injured individuals. However, they also feel that calling strikes will not be in the national interest of Pakistan and will certainly not solve the problems of Karachiites. It said the strikes will hurt most to the daily wage earners as well as the small retailers who live on a day-to-day basis. It will not only create a very bad image of Pakistan but also hurt the future export of the country.
"We certainly believe that the long-term solution to the Karachi problem should be politically discussed and resolved by taking all the stakeholders of Karachi into confidence and by consensus without resorting to strikes and rallies." The SITE Association requested all the sectors to help restore peace and harmony in the city and withdraw the strike calls.
