Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Salim Saifullah Khan said on Tuesday that democratic system in the country had taken strong roots and there was no threat to it. The minister, in a statement here, said with the introduction of local government (LG) system in the country, the concepts of serving the masses had underwent complete change.
He said the local government system had improved the service delivery system as most of the problems, confronting people, were being resolved at the grassroots level. While at the higher levels, both the houses of Parliament were working under the parameters of country's constitution, he added.
The minister said: "All the issues of national interests are regularly and effectively raised in the parliament and the government pays full attention to workable suggestions offered by its members."
The minister said a historic network of development projects was being completed at length and breadth of the country with the active involvement of the district governments. The Federal government had adopted uniform policy for the uplift of most backward and neglected areas, he added.
He urged the district governments to provide maximum facilities to the people, which had been envisaged in the devolution of power plan. "It is the duty of the Nazims to properly monitor the ongoing projects and inform the authorities concerned about the bottlenecks," he added.
