New Zealand share prices rose 0.53 percent for another record finish on Wednesday as investors followed gains in the Australian market, dealers said. The NZX-50 gross index added 22.98 points to 4,312.57 on turnover of 154.6 million dollars (112.3 million US). Rises outnumbered falls 58 to 49 among the 152 stocks traded.
Market-leader Telecom rose nine cents to 4.88 dollars, accounting for more than half of the day's turnover at 82.5 million dollars. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up nine cents to 3.69 dollars despite announcing net profit fell 18 percent to 57.6 million dollars in the year to March alongside record sales. Contact Energy fell four cents to 8.92 dollars, while rival Vector was up six cents at 2.97. Discount retailer The Warehouse was down 13 cents at 6.52 dollars and Infratil fell six cents to 6.60.
