NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani on Thursday hinted at holding a trade conference on the pattern of industrial seminar in which industrialists, traders and investors from Islamic states and neighbouring countries would be invited to boost industrial sector and business activities in the region.
This he said while talking to Peshawar-based Iranian Consul General Muhammad Igbal Asghari, who called on him at Frontier House, Peshawar on Thursday. Durrani said the provincial government had the plan to establish showrooms of various products including automobile, carpet industry, precious gemstone and other.
He promised that Iranian investors would be provided all possible facilities and incentives and Iranian-made tractors and motors would be introduced in Frontier province. He said the people of Iran and Pakistan were tied by unbreakable bonds of religion, tradition and culture, saying the people of Pakistan would standby their Iranian brethren if any aggression was meted out against it.
Durrani said the alliance of the religious parties (Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal) was an example set for the Ummah to unite and shun their difference which he termed crucial for the survival of the Ummah.
Speaking on the occasion, Iranian Consul General Muhammad Iqbal Asghari stressed the need for collective efforts involving religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought for promotion of brotherhood and inter-faith harmony. He said Ulema of the Muslim world could play a vital role in this regard and urged them to come forward and fulfil their responsibility of forging unity among the ranks of the Ummah.
