The Board of Management, Punjab Medical College, Allied Hospital and DHQ Hospital hosted a farewell in the honour of Professor Dr AG Rehan, Principal & Chief Executive Officer, on his retirement here on Friday.
Addressing on this occasion, Chairman, Board of Management, Mian Muhammad Latif paid rich tributes to Dr Rehan for successfully running the PMC / Allied & DHQ Hospital during the last 5 years. He said that due to untiring and dedicated services rendered by Dr A G Rehan and his team, the Punjab Medical College had stood second in ranking of the Medical Colleges of the province.
Chairman Board of Management further said that various local enterprises awarded stipends of Rs 3.29 million to the PMC students during the last 3-4 years while the textbooks worth Rs 5.5 million and new books having value of Rs 8.18 million were purchased of the College Library.
BOM chairman said that during tenure of Dr Rehan development works amounting to Rs 1,000 million were executed in PMC and both Allied and DHQ Hospitals, which included expenditure of Rs 13.2 million from Drug Bank, Zakat Fund and other sources.
A sum of Rs 184.195 million was spent for carrying out various development projects in the DHQ Hospital, including the construction of new emergency block, diagnostic block and CT Scan, modernisation of radiology and surgical wards, establishment of a liver centre, addition of 20 beds new CCU Block in Cardiology Unit, procurement of angiography machine, upgradation of OPD Block and operation theatre block in DHQ Hospital.
BOM senior member, Mian Maudood Akbar Advocate also addressed the meeting and lauded the achievement of Dr Rehan. In his Brief Address, Dr AG Rehan said that 38,000 patients were provided treatment while 100 operations were carried out every day in Allied Hospital alone.
He expressed thanks to Chairman BOM, Mian Muhammad Latif, for providing funds to execute development schemes worth rupees 1 billion in Allied and DHQ Hospital, besides meeting the financial requirements of the Punjab Medical College. He also lauded the Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, for sanctioning 61 posts of Professors, Associate Professors and employees of other Cadres in Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad.
