Punjab Minister for Mines & Minerals, Muhammad Sibtain Khan has said that irregular leases of mines are being cancelled. He added that in this connection the notices have been served to the mine owners throughout the province so that they could regularise their mines according to prescribed rules and regulations.
While presiding over a high-level meeting of Director General Mines & Mineral, here on Friday, he said that owners would be given a chance to get their mines regularised and failing to which they would face action and their lease contracts could be cancelled. He directed the concerned authorities to monitor the mines' functions regularly and submit a report within 15 days.
The minister said that a complete data-bank would be established of mining areas so that interested parties could get comprehensive information. He directed the officers to work on modern lines for enhancing the revenue of the department and start new projects to provide infrastructure in mining areas.
