Elections for the year 2007-2009 of the Pakistan Herald Workers' Union (CBA) of the Dawn Group of newspapers were held here on Thursday, May 24. According to final results, Afzal Baloch was elected President while Shafiuddin Ashraf secured the coveted position of Secretary General of the PHWU, said a press release.
Besides, Zaheer Mangalwala and nine members of Managing Committee were also elected in the elections held under the supervision of Habib Khan Ghauri, Election Commissioner and Shaikh Maqbool Elahi, Secretary Election Commission respectively.
The nine elected Managing Committee members included Ghulam Fariduddin, Abdus Samad, Anis Hamdani, Khalid H Khan, Aziz-ur-Rehman, Abdul Rahim Sipahi, Zahid-ul-Salam, Mehboob Ansari and Muhammed Javed Khan.
It may be remembered that for the office-bearers Sadiq Hussain Siddiqui (Senior Vice President), Mansoor Siddiqui (Joint Secretary), Farooq Memon (Propaganda Secretary) and Kazim Raza (Finance Secretary) were earlier elected unopposed.-PR
