Punjab Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheer-Uddin Khan has said that three degree colleges would be set up at Kahna and Kot Lakhpat with the total cost of Rs 112.389 million. He was presiding over a departmental meeting here on Friday, disclosed an official.
The meeting was informed that two degree colleges for girls and boys would be constructed at Kahna with the total cost of Rs 79.884 million. An amount of Rs 12 million has been released during the current fiscal year for this scheme.
Likewise, a degree college for girls is being established in Kot Lakhpat at a cost of Rs 33.505 million and Rs 5 million have been released for this scheme. The meeting was informed that academic blocks, laboratories and administrative blocks would be constructed in these degree colleges.
The minister said that the government was utilising all sources for the promotion of education and huge funds had been allocated for the provision of missing facilities in the educational institutions and construction of new colleges and schools. He directed the officers of C&W to gear up the pace of work so that development schemes could be completed well in time.
