Five Pakistani nationals, including three women, staying in the city without registering with the police, were arrested here on Saturday. They have been remanded in judicial custody for 15 days, Star of Mysore newspaper reported on Sunday.
Kamarunnisa, 39, Rehamat Bibi, 18, Sharifa Bibi, 49, Asghar, 30 and Umar Ansar, 28, citizens of Pakistan reportedly entered India on May 5 through the border checkpost at Atari and came to Mysore.
According to Indian Immigration Act, any Pakistani national, who arrives in India, is required to register his or her name at the office of the Police Commissioner within 24 hours.
But the arrested Pakistanis violated the law by not registering their names in the office of Police Commissioner even though they have been staying in Mysore since the past 14 days.
This came to light when they visited the Special Visa Renewal Counter in the city. The arrested Pakistan nationals obtained their travel visas to India from the office of the High Commissioner in Islamabad on March 13 stating that they were visiting a relative in Mysore.
Police interrogated the five persons for three hours and they disclosed that they were staying in Mysore in the house of one Mohammad at house No 3194, I Cross, Mohammed Sait Block, Lashkar Mohalla since May 12. Their relative contacted the Police after their arrests.
