Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Syed Raza Ali Gillani has directed the Director General Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (Phata) to handover complete record along with all liabilities of all satellite towns, people colonies and other old colonies all over the province to the concerned Town Municipal Administrations till June 30, 2007.
He issued these instructions while presiding over the 10th meeting of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency as its chairman, here on Wednesday. Secretary Housing and Public Health Engineering, Khalid Sultan, Director General Phata, Shehzad Jamil as well as representatives of Planning and Development, Local Government, Finance and Revenue departments were also present.
The minister said that Phata should concentrate more on new schemes rather than wasting time on the maintenance of old schemes. He also directed to handover all such area development schemes to concerned Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) by 30th September, 2007 where more than 50 percent plots have been disposed. The meeting unanimously decided that the on-going and new residential schemes would be handed over to concerned TMAs within five years from the date of allotment of the first plot.
Regarding residential scheme in Sundar over an area of 1388 acres, the meeting decided to send a comprehensive summary of this scheme to the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
The meeting also gave approval in principle for setting up of a residential scheme over more than 46 acres of land in Pindi Bhattian with the collaboration of private sector. After development of the land, 30 percent plots would be allotted to the owners of the land while 70 percent plots would be sold by Housing and Town Planning Agency.
The meeting also decided that a new residential scheme would be established over an area of 200 acres in the middle of Dina and Jhelum adjacent to ADS with the collaboration of private sector. If it becomes feasible, 30 percent-developed plots would be handed over to the owners of the land whereas 70 percent plots would be sold by the Phata.
