Chairman, Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), Dr Qaiser Waheed has clarified news item published in Business Recorder on May 28 captioned, "Pharma companies top brass to be exempted from drug court hearings".
In a press release, he said that in the meeting with Federal Secretary Health the issue of exempting pharmaceutical companies' chief executive officers, directors and high-ranking officials' from drug court hearings was discussed.
The secretary had asked both the drug controller and the PPMA to prepare proposals for the issue. However, amendment to law was not directed. The issue might be taken up in future meetings after submitting suggestions, Dr Waheed said. He said that health ministry was co-operative with them and health secretary had assured the PPMA for continuos interaction regarding the issues.-PR
