Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Dr Akram Sheikh has been awarded lifetime achievement award by the Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP). IEP Rawalpindi-Islamabad Centre on Wednesday arranged an award giving ceremony and annual dinner to mark the Engineers Day at a local hotel.
In recognition of his outstanding professional performance, IEP Rawalpindi-Islamabad Centre Chairperson Naheed Ghazanfar announced lifetime achievement award for Dr Akram Sheikh.
Sheikh took the charge as Deputy Chairman Planning Commission in March 2004. The President of Pakistan, in recognition of his long and meritorious services to the country, had awarded him civil service award Hilal-e-Imtiaz on August 14, 2005.
He has also held the important positions of Executive Director, Higher Education Commission and Chairman and Chief Executive of the Engineering Development Board. Professional excellence awards were presented to 29 engineers, including Engr Pervez Butt in recognition to his extraordinary and outstanding services in atomic energy field.
Major General Farrukh Javed (Retd) was awarded the "Performance Excellence in Engineering" on account of his outstanding work in the National Highway Authority. Engr Dr Illahi B Shaikh has been given the "Performance Excellence Award in Engineering", who is presently working as Chief Engineering Adviser/Chairman Federal Flood Commission, Ministry of Water and Power.
